As the name suggests, the ROV is connected to the vessel by a cable. This has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that it can remain underwater for much longer and dive much deeper. The disadvantage, of course, is the cable. In areas with rocks and reefs, you need to be properly trained and proceed with great caution to avoid the cable becoming snagged.
